SEEN: Digging A Hole, Looking For Something: Michael Krueger and Travis Millard

SAN DIEGO, CA: Double Break’s show Digging A Hole, Looking For Something featuring new works by Michael Krueger and Travis Millard (pictured above) opened Friday May 18th and runs thru June 16th.
Coming from Lawrence, Kansas and Los Angeles, CA respectively, Krueger and Millard’s first connected at the University of Kansas and have long drawn inspiration from one other. Both artists explore the figure of the “common man,” displacing the mundane and the mythic from everyday life, weaving threads between past and present. Their search for the sublime in this densely hyper-visual yet vacuous post-industrial age is rife with humor, longing and discovery, as is apparent in this selection of new works on view at Double Break. - Double Break.
Make sure to check out Double Break’s online store for all available artworks and T-shirts from the show.

Mook Vol. 2 from Titmouse Inc. Now Available!

(Comic by Artist Travis Millard)
Check out the animation studio behind the Adult Swim hit series Metalocalypse, Superjail!, China, IL, Black Dynamite; Disney’s MotorCity; and a pile of other cartoony-type things, Titmouse Inc. is releasing ”Mook Vol 2.” The “Mook” anthology is filled of art, comics, and interviews. Printed on fancy paper. The book is available for $19.99 on the Titmouse site.
Featuring words and pictures born from the brutal minds of classy artist-types from Dave Johnson’s “Flatulene” returns us to the world of sex appeal and gas-destruction; Metalocalypse director, Jon Schnepp, takes another peak into the realm of ultra-jerks; Travis Millard’s “Street Bros” is back for another psychedelic trip through memory-stain; Randy Cunningham art director, Otto Tang, explores lips and pussies; Black Dynamite writer, Brian Ash, takes us through the eyeballs of legendary P. Funk visual artist Overton Loyd; while Richard “DIKO” Mather, Israel Sanchez, Matt Taylor, and other artists made things with their hands and brains for your primate eyeballs.
Conveniently named Mook Vol 2, the cover is twice as hard, the paper is twice as thick and the art is in double-full color.
